The Ministry of Public Health issued a statement of condolence and condemnation for the martyrdom of Red Cross paramedic Youssef Assaf as a result of wounds he sustained as a result of the Israeli enemy targeting the ambulance in which he was traveling with his colleague, who was also wounded, to carry out a rescue mission in the town of Majdal Zun, Tyre district. While the Ministry extends its condolences for the martyrdom of paramedic Assaf, who joins the long convoy of martyred paramedics, it renews its denunciation and denunciation of the Israeli enemy’s targeting of first aid associations and a Red Cross ambulance in an attack that is the first against the Red Cross since October 2023. The Ministry reiterates the call for the necessity of ensuring maximum protection for health workers and humanitarian organizations in accordance with what is stipulated in international humanitarian laws, and not to remain silent regarding these ongoing and expanding attacks. The young man Youssef Assaf, a paramedic in the Lebanese Red Cross and from the city of Tyre, died as a result of the severe injury he sustained yesterday while performing his humanitarian duty.
